Sick shame?

Does anyone else feel like a personal failure when they get sick?
Colds and coughs get into our family pretty easily via the Daycare Express.
We've been battling the stomach flu for three weeks now (three seperate waves for me). And I'm feeling like it's my fault, like I am less than my health enhanced peers. I am ashamed of being sick. Is that normal?
I am washing my hands so much, they're cracked and raw and no amount of lotion or oil is going to heal them. We've cleaned and disinfected. I've scoured the fridge and pantry in case the germs are coming from a food source.
It should be warming up a bit later in the week. I'm opening all doors and windows.

Yep! I always feel guilty and try to do too much and then it just takes me longer to get better. Learn from my mistakes!

I can't wait to air out the house. Brian and I keep passing our cold back and forth.

I do with Will a little bit, because the poor baby is sick SO MUCH MORE than Maggie was at the same age. But I try to remind myself that kids are little germ factories and we do our best, but they can't stay in a bubble.

I actually did a story for Strollerderby awhile back (I'll try to find it for you) that it's actually good for kids to be exposed to germs, that keeping them in too sterile an environment actually doesn't let them build a strong enough immune system.

But I am sorry you've been sick for so long. A working nursing busy mama doesn't need that! I know just feeling physically crappy makes me depressed sometimes, especially when it WON'T GO AWAY.
